Casio has been making watches since 1957. I got my first Casio when I was ten and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. From that point on (with only a couple of exceptions) Casio has pretty much been a mainstay on my wrist. I’m not flashy. I don’t like metal bands and I prefer a basic watch that tells me the time and date (and that’s about it), but Casio has always been known for its gadgetry. Watches that have compasses on them or can hold up underwater against pressure so intense you’d probably get the bends if you were to dive that deep are the norm. I think it appeals to people’s sense of adventure. My Casio calculator watch was cool as shit in eighth grade when it helped me cheat on many a math test, but it wouldn’t do much for me today. Those were the old days though, and Casio is always broadening its horizons. Though it’s years from development, I’ve heard that Casio is working on an exclusive watch for Navy personnel that will actually wipe your ass AND spend quality time with your family - two things my dad never seemed to have time for. And it is all about time.
There’s hope for the future with Casio.
